Agenda-setting intelligence, analysis and advice for the global fashion community.
The Business of Fashion is pleased to announce a new partnership between BoF Insights, BoF’s data and advisory team, and Quilt.AI, a leading artificial intelligence technology company. BoF Insights and Quilt.AI will work together to deliver differentiated insights to fashion and beauty clients and to create a suite of AI-powered subscription tools, with Quilt.AI exclusively working with BoF Insights in fashion.
The partnership will augment BoF Insights’ data capabilities and industry expertise with Quilt.AI’s advanced AI-powered platform, which transforms big data into human insights and cultural understanding. Processing 1.4 petabytes of data daily to provide a near real-time view of the internet, Quilt.AI’s custom models are trained to detect emotion, cultural codes, sentiment, semiotics and more within images, videos and text in local languages and across different contexts. The models’ data sources range from social media platforms, such as Instagram, TikTok and Douyin to search engines including Google and Baidu, and the open web.
As part of the collaboration, BoF Insights and Quilt.AI will work with fashion and beauty companies on an advisory basis to uncover differentiated insights that will enable them to optimise their brand identity and customer relationships. Example projects include a “Brand Magic” diagnostic, which builds upon BoF Insights and Quilt.AI’s Brand Magic Index to assess a brand’s marketing efficacy, as well as analysing the online conversation around a brand, emerging trends, and customer behaviour and sentiment across geographies and demographics.
Additionally, BoF Insights and Quilt.AI will develop self-service subscription tools, such as a discourse analysis tool and trend tracking portal to enable clients to access ongoing insights about their brands.
The partnership comes at an important juncture in the growth of BoF’s business, which was recognised by Fast Company in March 2024 as one of the Most Innovative Companies in 2024 in part for its experimentation with AI. Fast Company’s Nicole Laporte said that BoF “demonstrates how a media brand can leverage AI to add reader value rather than erode trust with AI-written news articles.”
