Job Details

Launching in October 2024, we are seeking a creative and experienced individual who excels in design to join DEBUTE as a Freelance Womenswear Designer.

DEBUTE, a new direct-to-consumer womenswear brand is closing the gap between craftsmanship and accessibility for the modern, sultry set. Launching 17 October, 2024 the brand, founded by sisters Jazzy De Lisser and Lola Bute, is a celebration of sisterhood and its influence on personal style — a love letter written in fabric to the women they've been, the women they know, and the women they’ve yet to meet and may never know.

With a focus on high-quality, ethical production, and accessible price points, DEBUTE prides their selves in design, fit, quality, and a community that empower women. DEBUTE champions personal style with dynamic, functional garments that fuse cool, sexy, and feminine aesthetics, tailored to bring out each individual’s essence.

DEBUTE offer curated capsule collections throughout the year, allowing for a considered approach that prioritizes detail and the creation of lasting and definitive wardrobe staples above all else. With every release, the goal will remain the same: empower women to be exactly who they are, free of apology or doubt. We are seeking a talented Freelance Womenswear Designer to join our team in London and contribute to our upcoming collections.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Design collections, considering merchandising plans, sales needs, pricing targets and emerging trends. Develop colour pallets that align with both trends and sales objectives.
  • Conduct market and trend research to inform design decisions.
  • Source fabric, trims, and any accessories that meet the design, price targets, and quality standards.
  • Create complete tech packs for initial proto development including generating detail flats and black line artwork.
  • Work closely with sampling suppliers to ensure accurate representation of designs and make necessary adjustments.
  • Incorporate sustainable practices in design processes and material selection when possible.

Qualifications:

  • Proven experience as a womenswear designer, with a strong portfolio showcasing your work.
  • Proficiency in design software (e.g., Adobe Illustrator, Photoshop).
  • Strong understanding of garment construction and textiles.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills.
  • Ability to work independently and meet deadlines.
  • A degree in Fashion Design or a related field is preferred but not mandatory.

Skills:

  • Creative and innovative thinking.
  • Strong technical design skills and fabric knowledge.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Knowledge of current fashion trends and market dynamics.
  • Strong organizational skills.

To apply, please submit your portfolio and resume to contact@debute.co.uk by 21 October 2024.
