About the Role

In this role, you will build and develop innovative internal and external content strategies to support the company's long-range plan across apparel and home. You will collaborate with internal and external partners to plan, develop, implement, and evaluate strategic communications, employee engagements, thought leadership opportunities and create strategies that support retail and experiential activations on behalf of Banana Republic and Gap Inc. You will develop a deep understanding of the business and leverage your understanding of industry trends to shape stories that convey the company's priorities, values, and market position. You should have outstanding leadership, organizational and project management skills with superior written and verbal communication.

What You'll Do

  • Partner with the business to build a narrative that communicates Banana Republic's company's business objectives, culture, and values to our employees, prospective employees, shareholders, business/trade media and customers.
  • Design, edit, and produce the distribution of internal and external communication materials, internal memos, including program communications, presentations/strategies, FAQs and fact sheets, press materials, speeches, brand messages, talking points, articles, and social content.(LinkedIn, Gap Inc Comms, etc.)
  • Manage, plan and execute company Town Halls, leadership summits, internal and global summits, etc.
  • Support Gap Inc. Internal Communications partners with overall collaboration as it relates to brand updates, seasonal product news, Town Halls, earnings, reporting and cross-sharing of information.
  • Provide guidance and support to executive management for internal and external meetings, presentations, panels and events.
  • Manage internal and external communications editorial calendars to ensure consistency, and amplification of key messages and products annually and seasonally.
  • Evaluate fit with target audience to ensure comprehension.
  • Evaluate sometimes complex situations using multiple sources of information (internal and external sources)
  • Provide council on vetting opportunities, support brand and Gap Inc on crisis communications efforts.
  • Implement metrics to evaluate effectiveness of communication plan delivery.
  • Develop standards, guidelines and procedures for brand playbooks across style, content, events and more.
  • Collaborate and lead others in key initiatives and their implementation.
  • Responsible for planning, budget, and end results; set policies and strategic direction for area/team.
  • Ability to drive cultural and/or change initiatives, and position a brand/company as a great place to work.
  • Creative, innovative, and curious; ability to move from concept to ideation to execution; strong bias for action.
  • Ability to prioritize, multitask, and oversee multiple concurrent projects and workstreams with various business partners, PR, Social, Advertising and Marketing teams and Gap Inc. counter parts.
  • Develop and support PR outreach (national, regional and Canada), media and customer events as it relates to apparel and home products, and brand sponsorships/partnerships/collaborations in collaboration with external team and agency partners.
  • Support opportunities to grow brand awareness, and build/strengthen credibility for earned media coverage.
  • Drive local press stories and product focused local editorial, exploring Influencer integrations where possible, and helping supplement brand storytelling.
  • Works cross-functionally with merchandising and channel leads to develop seasonal and annual communication frameworks aligned to regional brand and commercial objectives.
  • Establish strong relationships and collaboration with relevant stakeholders throughout the organization (Stores, Design, Merchandising, Visual, Creative, Media, Social) to inform on-going and always-on planning and business/brand alignment throughout the season.
  • Play a strong, senior strategic role in working cross-functionally and with senior leaders.
  • Function as a thought leader that generates strategic ideas for amplification and activations across all existing and first to market platforms.
  • Oversee Retail Field Communications Manager role with brand store and operation teams.

  • High attention to detail with demonstrated ability to care for multiple, competing priorities simultaneously.
  • Concrete experience managing complex projects and programs requiring thorough leadership to align multiple teams and stakeholders.
  • Outstanding organizational skills, communication, writing and presentation skills.
  • Have industry knowledge, personality and composure to work with senior executives, major media outlets, talent/influencers and brand partners.
  • Ability to determine solutions independently, think creatively, proactively, and implement rapidly.
  • This role will be culturally plugged-in, a strategic thinker and an experienced leader.
  • Demonstrated ability to think strategically, understand business challenges and recommend effective implementation plans designed to drive results.
  • Leader of teams, collaborative, nimble and agile; Flexibility to manage competing priorities and shift focus as determined by changing business needs.
  • Deep team-orientation and desire for team building.

Salary Range: $164,200 - $217,500 USD
Employee pay will vary based on factors such as qualifications, experience, skill level, competencies and work location. We will meet minimum wage or minimum of the pay range (whichever is higher) based on city, county and state requirements.
